Urgent Care Centre
Whipps Cross Hospital Urgent Care Centre
WF GP FedNet provides services into the urgent care centre (UCC) at Whipps Cross Hospital which treats most injuries and illnesses that are urgent but not life-threatening, for example strains, sprains, broken bones, minor burns and scalds, bites, stings, minor head and eye injuries.
No appointment is necessary, but on arrival there will be an initial assessment to prioritise the urgency of your care. Patients will be seen in order of clinical importance, so patients may have to wait if their condition is not as serious as others.
We strive to see, treat and discharge 80% of patients from the UCC within two hours of arrival. At times of high demand, we may not be able to manage this and ask for your understanding and patience. We will always treat patients in the order of clinical need.
The Urgent Care Centre is not appropriate for:
- Non-urgent treatment that could be provided by your GP or a pharmacist
- Routine services such as blood tests or sutures (stitches) removal
- Minor health problems such as coughs and colds – you can get advice and over-the-counter treatments from a pharmacist.
For advice on a health problem or if you aren’t sure which NHS service to use telephone 111, it is free to call from a landline or mobile and open 24 hours a day.
